From Sultan Mother’s Legacy to Kitchens Around the World
Mumywrap is inspired by the wisdom born on the difficult migration routes of the 1850s.
Our family’s ancestor, Sultan Mother, carried only two precious treasures as she traveled from the Central Asian steppes to the fertile shores of the Black Sea:
The ancestral sourdough starter
and the beeswax-coated cloths that protected it.

Throughout the long months of migration, we witnessed a miracle:
bread wrapped in these cloths never went stale, never molded, and stayed fresh as if breathing with nature itself.
This simple discovery revealed one of nature’s most powerful and elegant solutions.
When our family settled in the Black Sea region, Sultan Mother refined this ancient wisdom and passed it down to her grandchildren.
The cloths—made of 100% cotton, pure beeswax, pine resin, and jojoba oil—soon became essential for preserving not only bread, but also cheese, greens, dairy, and rising dough.
